There is adult supervision all day and lunch is included every day -- and it's FREE! The camp is for students who are finishing 6th, 7th or 8th grade during this past 2015-2016 school year.

2016 Crystal Apple Winners

Elgin School District is proud to announce our Crystal Apple Award winners for 2016: Robert Shell and Tucker Murphey! The winners were recognized in a ceremony in La Grande. Please join us in congratulating these great Elgin School District employees!

Robert Shell is a high school Social Studies Teacher who “goes above and beyond to help students not only learn history, but also to see the reality of the world they will have to navigate on their own.”  A teacher in Elgin for eight years, Robert is adept at interpreting material for easy understanding and helping students grow in their academic independence. From teaching about the reality of the world wars and the way government operates to his projects like the Ford Factory and Aqueducts, he teaches students to try harder and test their own abilities.

Tucker Murphey has brought back the district music program with excitement and purpose and quickly elevated the program to great heights in the two years he has worked there. Tucker provides music instruction to grades K-12, including choir classes in 6th and 8th grades and high school band and choir. In only the second year of the music program returning, the Pep Band is already performing at local games and events, and he has involved community members. Tucker has ensured that music is back in our schools with great momentum and enthusiasm.
