Elgin is nestled at the foot of the Wallowa Mountains on the northern edge of the Grande Ronde Valley. It is within 20 minutes north of driving time of La Grande, the site of Eastern Oregon University. Both La Grande and Eastern provide outstanding cultural and education opportunites for Elgin residents.

Approximately 2,000 citizens reside in the growing Elgin community. Many community members actively participate in school programs and provide continued support for school activities.
