Posted Date: 10/26/26 (09:06 AM)

Our thoughts and prayers are with the four Elgin High School students injured in Saturday’s crash, their families, and our entire community. Counselors from the IMESD Crisis Response Team are available today at Stella Mayfield Elementary School and Elgin High School.

ELGIN, Ore. – Four Elgin High School students were injured in a traffic crash on Clark’s Creek Road on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Elgin Fire Department and Elgin Ambulance responded to the scene, where multiple patients were treated and transported for medical care. Two students with serious injuries were flown by Life Flight, one to a hospital in the Tri-Cities, Washington, area and one to a hospital in Seattle. The other two students were transported by ground ambulance to Grande Ronde Hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the four students, their families, and our entire community.

In response, Elgin School District has activated the Intermountain Education Service District (IMESD) Crisis Response Team. Counselors and support staff are on site today at both Stella Mayfield Elementary School and Elgin High School and will be available to students and staff throughout the school day.

The district extends its sincere thanks to all the first responders who assisted at the scene: the Elgin Fire Department, Elgin Ambulance, LaGrande Fire Department, Imbler Fire Chief, Union County Sheriff’s Office, and several bystanders.

Out of respect for the students and their families, the district will not release names or additional medical details. Community members who need support or wish to share well wishes with the families may contact Superintendent Larry Glaze at 541-437-1211 or Larry.Glaze@elginsd.org.
